Recently it was my mother’s birthday and of course a mother – daughter lunch was required. I was meaning to let my mother choose which restaurant she wanted to go to… however, I have been dying to try Niji Sushi Bar since it had opened.. So with a little persuasion.. my mother agreed! (Sorry mum.. next time I promise.. no persuasion).
Niji Sushi Bar features a sushi train, a private dining room and an extensive menu full of yummy dishes! My mother and I ate from the sushi train but I’m sure that we will be back to try dishes from the menu. There is also a variety of choices for the sushi train… it was a little overwhelming… there were just so much to choose from!
Chicken Katsu with Cream Cheese and Avocado
Cream cheese and sushi is a match made in heaven. It’s just so delicious!!!
Tuna and avocado with wasabi mayo
The thing I love the most with Niji is that there are self-serve bottles of mayo on the sushi train! Haven’t experienced that at other sushi trains before. My favourite was the wasabi mayo. My mother liked the other type of mayo on offer. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the mayo but had a real spicy kick to it! Great for the chilli lovers.
Duck Skin Sushi
Yep you read it! Duck skin sushi. We though it was eel… was pleasantly surprised with this unique combination. I hadn’t tried this before and when I bit into it, it was like… WOW!
Spicy Squid
Who doesn’t love deep fried battered squid? Personally I love it to bits… Unfortunately this squid was soggy, rubbery and cold
but i guess that is to be expected when it has been on the train for a while.. Next time will order it fresh!
Chicken Katsu with Avocado
Overall my mother and I had a wonderful time at Niji and will definitely be back! The service was extremely friendly and efficient. I don’t think my cup of water was ever empty!
Kingsford has an excellent new edition to its culinary delights!

i love a good salt and pepper squid as well but that’s unfortunate it was too good here when you had it
ordering it fresh is definitely a better option. i’d never want to have it unless i knew it was just cooked.
